3. Download your files8-bit LightBurn · true 16-bit PNG · STL / OBJ CNC
For LightBurn: import the 8-bit grayscale PNG or BMP and set your own material, layer, and power settings. For CNC: STL/OBJ are closed raised-relief meshes in millimetres. The 16-bit PNG is a real 16-bit grayscale file; tonal detail is still limited by the source image. A single picture provides an estimated height field—not recovered hidden geometry.
Start with a ready-made design

20 samples, ready to shape.

Load any sample into the studio, adjust the depth and mapping, then export the actual height map or 3D mesh. Ten are tuned for fiber-laser marking; ten are arranged for CNC relief.

From screen to machine

Three steps. No account.

Craigality-3D turns brightness into an editable relief. The right export depends on the process you are setting up.

01

Choose a picture

Drop in a portrait, logo, texture or one of the 20 sample designs. Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP and BMP.

02

Set the depth

Auto-level the image, boost tonal depth, set physical width and relief height, then drag the 3D map to inspect the surface from every angle.

03

Export and finish

Download 8-bit PNG/BMP for LightBurn, a true 16-bit grayscale PNG for compatible workflows, or a closed STL/OBJ mesh for CNC. Verify scale, toolpaths and machine settings before running.

Machine-safety note: relief preview and sample files are starting points, not validated machine recipes. A grayscale-to-depth response depends on the material, laser, lens, bit and settings. Test on scrap, check dimensions and tool clearance, and use your machine manufacturer's safety guidance.

A few useful details

Good to know.

A quick note on file formats, privacy and what a single image can—and cannot—tell us.

Does this make a native LightBurn project?

No. It creates standard grayscale PNG and BMP height maps that you can import into LightBurn. You choose and validate the material, layer, speed and power settings in LightBurn; this tool does not produce an .LBRN2 project or machine-specific recipe.

Are my pictures uploaded or stored?

No. Conversion and exports happen locally in your browser. The page has no upload server, account system, analytics or remote image-processing service. Your browser may keep its normal download history, but the image itself is not sent to Craigality-3D.

How are the CNC meshes made?

The image's grayscale is sampled as a height field, then a flat base and perimeter walls are added to create a closed raised-relief mesh. STL and OBJ dimensions are written in millimetres. The mesh is an estimate from brightness, not a true 3D scan.

How do I inspect the relief in 3D?

Choose Turnable 3D, drag to orbit and use the mouse wheel to zoom. Preview depth exaggeration changes only the view; exported dimensions and relief depth stay in millimetres.

Is the new PNG export truly 16-bit?

Yes. It is encoded as a 16-bit grayscale PNG (bit depth 16), not an 8-bit canvas PNG with a different filename. Original tonal detail is limited by the uploaded picture and the browser's image decoder; the export cannot restore detail absent from the source. Keep the 8-bit PNG/BMP for typical LightBurn raster workflows.

Which formats can I download?

PNG is available as an 8-bit LightBurn-friendly map or a true 16-bit grayscale PNG; BMP is grayscale for common raster workflows; STL is a binary mesh; OBJ is a text mesh. Choose the format supported by your machine software.

Is the site really free?

Yes. There is no charge, sign-in, API key or usage limit in this version. If it is useful, the optional coffee button links to PayPal.
